Time for TT11, and this time something a little different. Quite a few of you are already aware of the what will be happening, but for those that don't, i'll explain.

TT11 is a special event being held in conjunction with Cash's tuning contest, and as such we ask that anyone taking part use the tunes available from Cash's SF (numbered 1-12, all free). When you post your time, do so in the normal manner, but also please mention which tune you have used to set your time. We chose RDP stage B rev in A class as it offered the tuners the most variety in cars, there were numerous different cars in the top 100, probably 20+ different ones, with many more other capable of top times. This TT will only be for 1 week!!!

Special note to competitors in the tuning comp: Please feel free to enter too, BUT, please ensure you use other peoples tunes rather than your own. If you don't beat your pb, well normal conditions apply (post a pic, save a replay etc).

Track: RDP Stage B rev
Class: A class
End time: midnight 24th July

Prize fund:

10 mill per group!!!!!!!!

Per class:
1st 3mill
2nd 2.5mill
3rd 2mill
4th - 1.5mill
5th - 1mill

There will also be a special prize for someone who exceeds expectations (as decided by Cash and myself), an A class Ferrari 250 GTO, tuned by TfR Wes and Cash some time ago, but still sat inside the top 100 at Old LeMans!!!"

There will also be 50 vcash for taking part, and 50 vcash for every person you finish above in the overall table.

Rules

If you have taken part in 2 TT's you should have been placed into a class, please mention your class in your first post so i can update the tables a little easier.

Set a time on specified track and class.
Post in this thread.
If this is not a PB, please show a photo or save a replay of the time (please give an indication of the lap to make my life easier )
Start a new post for any time updates do not edit previous posts.
Uncertified times do count however they will rank below any certified time.
Only times set while the TT is live count.

Ranking
A minimum of 2 entered TT's are required to gain a rank, and then you will be put into 1 of 3 classes.
Gold, Silver, or Bronze.
Your average finish over the previous TT's you've competed in will be calculated and after each TT the rankings will be amended.

For anyone trying mine i would recommend you roll it around the hairpins until your 3/4 around before you gun it, ballz to the wall flat out down the straights. Leave it in 3rd around the last hairpin as knocking down into 2nd on entry unstabalizes the car, shift down 3/4 away around. Rewind a few times till you get it down. Ive left a bit in reserve so hope someone can improve on my time.

Looking forward to trying all the cars

Do we have to use the tunes of the SF?

You can run what you want, but at the end of competition those that have used the Tuners cars are the ones that take the podiums and prizes, it's a special one off FMUK TT to coincide with one of the rounds for the FMUK Tuners competition going on.

In fairness Raul, when you look at the lb's and see what times some of the guys have been setting using these cars, you shouldn't find it difficult getting a very good time.

F.A.O The Tuners.

The 2 guys who tuned the Lexus, the 2 who tuned the '69 Fairlady and the 2 who tuned the Scooby if your unable to figure out which is your tune on the S/F (after all the bhp/torque/weight figures are viewable) then pm me and I'll be happy to point out which one is your set-up.

Firstly apologies for the knee jerk reaction, but the thought of 6 minutes of painful pinball makes me wince everytime :p But when i saw the lap times and realised it was a p2p i thought i best give it a crack........and seeing as i'm an all or nothing kind of guy i have given all 12 tunes 3 runs (toms mrs got 5 as it was the first and i needed to familarise the track),

then the the two cars that i liked the most i went back to and fine tuned the times, the results as follows :-

Tune____Car_____________Time

11.........Audi Quattro........: 1.17.400
5...........Evo 9 MR............: 1.17.383
12.........Tom's MR S..........: 1.17.008
8...........Scooby 22b.........: 1.16.200
7...........Porcshe 997 GT2..: 1.16.183
10.........Toms MR2............: 1.16.134
6...........Audi S5...............: 1.15.934
2...........Lexus IS350.........: 1.15.717
3...........Scooby 22b..........: 1.15.667
9...........Fairlady z 69.........: 1.14.800
1...........Lexus IS 350........: 1.14.533
4..........Fairlady z 69........: 1.14.000 on leaderboard as i've never run this in A class :)

Thanks for doing that Rekky, the P2P's aren't to everyones taste, but i appreciate the effort you've put in pal. Would never expect everyone to try every tune, thats a lot of time to invest, but you've gone the extra mile and run them all!!! :th_dblthumb2:

Some interesting results so far, with both mine and Rekky's time in tune 1 being almost identical, and Rekky's and Total's times in tune 4 only a couple of 10ths apart, but a fair sized gap between Oonan and Rekky with tune 12.

Quick question: Anyone who has tested the Fairlady Z tune 4 and had issues with it dirtying the lap on the 2nd corner (The one after the jump)? I took the same line, hit nothing and suddenly it was dirty halfway through the corner. Did not realise as crossed the line and checked the LB and no update. Was annoyed as it was a 1:13.848. Any ideas?

I'll check the replay. That corner does have an uphill twist to it so possibly its hitting something. But does not hit anywhere else. Corner 5 (Hairpin after the bridge into the dark rocky area) I would of thought could make it bottom out but does not seem to upset the car, although the aero scrapes and makes some good sparks! :D

I've come across it a few times. It depends on how low the tuner has set the car. It doesn't happen often, but it does happen. And usually you don't really notice it until the next lap

happened a fair bit with a couple of x class tunes i've used, they very close to the floor to start with,

try this :

get an r1/x class, set springs and dampers to softest then set wings to maximum down force and ride height at lowest then do a lap of the old mulsane and see the results :)

Yeah don't disagree it can happen, just don't remember it happening to me. I know when i usually set a car up i have it 1 or 2 notches up from the lowest ride height at minimum, so that possibly why.

Any thoughts on the line into that 2nd corner (Jump corner). I've found the fastest is going really deep into the corner (Line 1), shedding the speed off, turning in tightly and blasting down the straight (See image).

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6029/5954638694_9ea6a941aa_z.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/58943773@N03/5954638694/)

Turn 3 just keeping tight to the wall and blasting out at 75% into the corner (As said before) and turn 4 is a long waiting game. 5 is easy turn in and 6 through to 7 taken as one corner but good throttle work is key to getting tight in to the blast over the finish.

Anx
19-07-2011, 04:46 PM
I've found that to be better too, break a little later, run deeper, but get on full power earlier but further back than the clipping the apex route (if that makes sense). Seems to work for me anyway. The thing about the RDP P2P tracks is that of the 8 stages, B and B rev are more power orientated than the others, meaning that getting the car in a straight line as soon as possible means you can mash the right foot (trigger) down and use the power of the car your driving. The other 6 stages are more orientated to handling, meaning carrying corner speed is essential over straight line speed.

As many of you will be aware, I really, really hate drivetrain swaps and only use them in the most extreme of extreme situations (think 900+bhp Aveo and you get the idea of one of the very few occasions I've done one). So, the plan is to only run the cars which are running their stock drivetrains.

First up was the Quattro (Tune 11) which I ran last night. The car turns in, accelerates well and generally feels pretty solid. There's only really two issues I had with it. Firstly, it understeered on that fast right-hander on the long straight - I can only presume that there's too much rear downforce compared to the front as it handles fine in the hairpins. The hairpins leads me onto the second issue - in them I felt like I was between 1st and 2nd gears. 1st was too short and I hit the rev limiter almost as soon as I was on the throttle; 2nd was better but felt like it was lugging a bit when I got on the throttle.

And then I went and forgot to save the replay for my best run, so feel free to discount it if you want to. But, my time in the Quattro was 1:15.709

Next car for me was the #8 tune 22b.

This just felt so planted, it felt lively, the gears felt spot on and the only slight fault I could find with it was a slight delay on turn in. Generally this is a very good, easy to drive car.

So why couldn't I better 1:15.609 in it? I can only think it's what I'd term the "Eurofighter Effect". Basically, this car feels great, but it's that stability which is holding it back. The Eurofighter (Typhoon) is so unstable that it would be unflyable without a computer making minute alterations to the trim every few milliseconds, but that instability makes it incredibly manouevreable. All I can think of is that the stability of this car (and it is very easy to drive) is making it just that bit less manouevreable and it's that which is holding it back a bit.

He'd bolded his time, unfortunately not for that one :th_SmlyROFL: He'd run both the 22b's to the exact same time and put those in bold, and they were all i saw.

Edit: Raul - Changed your time too. Not sure whats got into me this week!?!

Took the S5 (Tune 6) out for a spin last night. Believe it or not, that was the first time I've driven an S5 so I was a bit interested to see how it panned out.

It certainly felt planted, and was also pretty quick. Despite only having 3bhp more than my tune and weighing about 700lbs more, it was only 1mph slower coming out of the tunnel. Handling wise, it was pretty much the exact opposite of the #11 Quattro - very good in the fast corner but tending to understeer in the slow corners. That said, it was still faster than both the #8 and #11 tunes in my hands with a time of 1:15.025

I remembered to do a replay for this, but haven't uploaded it yet. I'll give the Evo a run out tonight and then that will be me done. And I'll upload the fastest run too.

looking at the boards the 69 fairladys were always going to dominate. It would have benn a bland round if everyone had picked that :(

Major respect for those who chose to try somthing diffrent. Theres 1 car that i loved driving around for this challenge and that was the Porsche. well done that man. Big thanks to shafter for driving my car to the top but dude, your in the wrong car :) Warrior's 69 will set the fastest time it just takes a bit more to get a hold of. And the last one from me is the #5 Evo tune.

With a time of 1:15.826 it was the slowest of the four tunes I ran, but that is only a very minor part of the story. The car felt well-balanced and was easy to drive, just lacked in acceleration compared to the other car. It was also the most consistent of the four which suggests that it would make a much better race car than hotlap car.

I've always had a soft spot for the Posi P2P's, ever since i first started trying them. Yes they are frustrating at times, but when you do nail that good lap it feels extra special and worth the effort you've put in.

I'm hardcore when it comes to hotlapping, i rely on quantity not quality to hit my times :th_SmlyROFL: I'll start off slowly usually, getting used to my chosen car/tune and getting a feel for the track. Then its just a case of pushing the limits each time i go round. Sometimes i suprise myself on how well i can do, the TT on Sedona club reverse in B class was the perfect example. Really struggled early on as i don't generally get on that well there and thought top 100 would be a real achievement, 2 weeks later and i was sat just outside the top 10!!!

Top effort by everyone, and especially you two in both hitting what were #1 times (until Sid came along with the new revised tune ;) ).

A quick look at the lb's shows 5 FMUK guys in the top 10, another 3 in the top 20 (including me :D ), and another 16 in the top 100, making 24 top 100's overall. Thats 1 short of 25% (for those who struggle with numbers :p ) belonging to guys from the FMUK site (a couple of times in there are old ones, but they all count), thats a wonderful achievement and something the site should be proud of!

Big thanks to Cash for coming to me with his idea of combining the 2 comps, a huge success in my opinion, and as always, a huge thank you to you guys for taking the time to push yourselves as much as you can, makes running the TT all the more worthwhile for me :th_dblthumb2:

After discussion with Cash, he's decided to award 2 Ferrari 250 GTO's instead of 1 for people who we feel has surpassed our expectations during this TT. The cars in question come pre-tuned to A class for LeMans old circuit (so they are quick!!! ;) ).

Firstly, we've decided that Rekky deserves credit for his efforts in running ALL the cars in very short space of time, after thinking he wouldn't be able to give this much of a go. We also know that Rekky's time on FM3 is very limited nowadays, so wanted to reward his efforts.

Secondly is MuppetWilko. Whilst not troubling the fast guys at FMUK (no offence intended MuppetWilko), he has taken part in 10 out of the last 11 weeks. And even though he's in the Bronze group, with this weeks TT he's got himself into the top 100 (#86). So again, in recognition of his sterling efforts getting into the top 100 overall, he will also be awarded a 250 GTO.

Congrats guys :th_dblthumb2:

MuppetWilko - Can you send me a FR so i can gift the car over to you.

Rekky - I'll send yours straight over.

I want to echo what Anxious has already posted, although dominated by the Z432, there was a nice choice of cars quite capable of top 100 times. A nice job by the tuners for supplying these cars, for you the TT'ers for running them, hopefully you had some fun in doing so. Maybe run something like this again because it shows that you the FMUK users are quite capable of building then running cars which can go, top 100, top 50, top 10 and yes combining forces and going No 1

Thanks for all the effort put in by one and all

Cheers Cash

Secondly is MuppetWilko. Whilst not troubling the fast guys at FMUK (no offence intended MuppetWilko), he has taken part in 10 out of the last 11 weeks. And even though he's in the Bronze group, with this weeks TT he's got himself into the top 100 (#86). So again, in recognition of his sterling efforts getting into the top 100 overall, he will also be awarded a 250 GTO.

Congrats guys :th_dblthumb2:

MuppetWilko - Can you send me a FR so i can gift the car over to you.

Wooo! I don't know what to say! Firstly, I'd like to thank my mum and dad, they've stuck with me through it all. My good lady for believing in me, my agent for the opportunity and a special friend...you know who you are you old chuffer, and of course, a huge thanks to the academy for giving me this award. A night I will never forget...;)

Ok, seriously now...thanks Anx for the 250 GTO, I'm chuffed! Another great TT and I've said before I love these. I know you guys put in a lot of effort to run all this, so big thanks.:th_dblthumb2:

Nice red rabbitt up on the AH...thanks again.

looking at the boards the 69 fairladys were always going to dominate.

Its got a sharper turn in better brakes and you can get on the power earlier :)

thinks sid glad you liked the porker. getting shafter to do a paint & will be on s/f soon :th_dblthumb2:

Its tuned for no traction control but it is slightly different in gearing only getting into third for the hairpin down to second and blast up the hill.
From the start rev the nuts off in first 8000rpm is the change point as far as I can remember grab second about 10 mtrs before the tunnell third through the tunnell and thats it till the hairpin.

mash the gas off the line, as soon as you get traction shift into second just as its about to hit the redline. You should be clear of your previous ghost by the time you get to the first tight left hander
