I found out the other day, much to my surprise, that the .:R uses vtech - or a similar tech. It's like VVT isn't it? two sets of cams?

I did like the idea of it, but revving an engine to 7K all the time goes against my mechanical sympathy - ok, I know it's built for that, but still...

to 7k? try nearly 10k lol (in the case of the S2000) - imo only bikes should rev that high lol

that high eh? nope, doesn't compute.

Are the servicing costs not quite high then?

dunno mate, don't own one lol. But if you can afford the car then the servicing aint a problem lol. Jap cars - i won't own one, unless its a 300zx, Skyline R32, mitsi 3000gt or RX7. I prefer the Euro cars more

Nah - Honda servicing is v. reasonable. The VTEC is an engineering masterpiece.

Don't knock it till you've tried it.

High revving engines are real racing car engines. VTEC is like having a turbo but without the lag (assuming you drive it in the power band which isn't that hard once you learn... ) plus the honda gear box in my CTR was sublime... I've never felt a better gear change.

most cars have some kind of variable valve timing now
the r32 does have it but its still not much point going into the limiter its dropping off before that the r also has variable inlet manifold which is great imho it does kinda the same thing as vtec but it increases low/midrange torque
mine has none of that gubbins (i used to have a variable inlet manifold whicg was fantastic low/midrange but i was skint and had to sell it )

Yeh, I was once larging it about, loving it, and all of a sudden, noticed a severe drop in power. I was like, "Wtf?" Looked down at the rev limiter - bouncy bouncy! hehe.

One thing the vtec suffers from, is crap torque figures. I drove an imported EK9 R from Aberdeen to london (and back). I have to say it was a great car, yet you can seroiusly notice a dip in response when gunning it up a moderately steep incline.

There thirsty ****ers too.

My real car history....

1989 Mk2 1.3 Golf (Complete G60 replica)
1989 Nova SR (1.6 16v, 16" Alessios, handling and braking mods)
1995 Honda Civic Coupe 1.5 LSi (17's, body mods)
1994 Civic VTi hatch (intake, exhaust, JDM 15's, suspension)
1998 Civic 1.8 VTi (only had it a month, got written off)
1999 Civic Type-R EK9 (turned out to have been in bad accident, went back to importers after week)
1999 Honda Accord Type-R (tinted and Eibach suspension)
1994 Astra GSi 2.0 Redtop (5 stud, turbo conversion)
1993 AstraVan (2.0 16v Redtop, pearl paint, brake and suspension mods, blah blah blah)

Now looking at selling van to buy a Landrover Discovery for some off road fun!

Real Cars

Hey good people,
Only joined the site a few days ago so Hi all . Some of the paint jobs in the bodyshop are class, don't have the patience myself, start a paint job then start to rush it and it gets crap . Anway, let's get to the point, sorry if you've all discussed this before (tried to look for it on search but didn't see anything), was just wondering what cars you all drive in real life? I drive a Clio Dynamique 16v, bit of a bird's car I know , anyway, enough of that, though it'd be fun to see what we drive in real life, seeing as 99.9% of the time is spent talking about the cars we drive on xbox

Merry racing
