As some of you already know I have recently been diagnosed with cancer. There's a tumour on the outside of my left eye and another in the gland which runs from the base of my left ear to the top of my shoulder.
Having met the surgeons, I have been told that at best they hope to remove both tumours. Unfortunately this means fairly major facial surgery, and the removal of the offending gland, resulting in scarring, and possibly losing my left eye.
I have an appointment for an MRI scan a week on Tuesday, which will give the surgeons (and me), a better idea of just what needs doing. I expect the surgery to go ahead within a week or so of the scan results, as time is of the essence. I'm guessing I'll have another meeting with the surgeons prior to the operation, at which point we'll discuss the way ahead regarding possible outcomes and recovery times.
For now I'm not in any pain and have normal vision, and continue to work on new tunes for release under the Chop Shop banner.
*I would like to thank those of you who already knew this for keeping it to yourselves until I was ready to go public.
Wishing you the very best of luck mate.
Hope you have some great mates and family to support you.
talking about things and letting people help can be very tough on the pride.
but it will help you and push you through it regardless of the end results.
Look forward to getting into some racing with you as I really enjoy your opinions around here Mr H00nta, And your cars ain't half bad either

Sorry to hear that mate. As for maybe losing your eye its terrible. I have not had the ability to use my left eye since a baby and have a normal life, just check my left side a lot more than the right. Still can watch 3d films. Let's just prey it won't come to that.
You have my best wishes Hoonta, i can't even begin pretend to understand what your going through right now. But you will have the full support of this community and we'll all be thinking of you.

Thanks lads.
Telling my parents was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do, and although I've always thought of them as strong characters, seeing their faces crumble as they took it in was very difficult for me. To their credit there were no tears at the time, however on leaving their house on Saturday evening my old man kinda cracked a little.
I'm lucky in having good mates around me, and they've been great, offering lifts to hopital etc.
As things stand atm I actually feel fine; signed off work because of the risk of a secondary infection though.
Having your support as well as that of those around me is going to be important in the coming weeks, and is much appreciated.
@ Carlos - I hope all goes well with your wifes pre-op.
A close friend went through a very similar experience last year albeit without the eye complications. He breezed though it. He's even chuffed with the scars. A strong will and some luck will see you hale in no time at all.
I can only imagine the fear and worry you and your family are feeling mate. I expect that from the sounds of things you have come to terms with the word 'cancer' (as this one word alone can incite so much fear) I've had scares from wife (bad smear which we were told was cancerous, turned out all right after minor laser surgery) and our youngest son (meningitis scare at age of three, luckily that's all it was but even the hospital told us to expect the worst) but obviously nothing that was certain.
Surgery is a lot more advanced than it used to be but I'm sure you know the risks involved and have a far better understanding of the procedures necessary at this time.
I hope that all goes better than expected and you have minimal (or better still none) problems or adjustments after surgery and wish you a speedy recovery so that you can get back to normal.
Wishing you all the best mate, you're probably a lot braver than me as I would probably bottled telling anyone and almost certainly not have told fellow gaming buddies.

Thanks, all we know at the moment is she has to have most of the thyroid removed and hopefully it will be the end of the matter(fingers crossed), she has also been signed off work in case of infection although she feels fine but just has a 2cm lump in her throat, which has become the butt of many jokes.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you my friend.
I've been signed off for another four weeks in case of infection too...and my rolling month-to-month contract is up for renewal within that time. To be fair my employers have been great in renewing it already, but I wouldn't grudge them cancelling it this time.
@ Carlos: Sounds like you've got the best approach to the situation. Like you say, fingers crossed.
Jesus christ dude. Best of luck to you, but... if the worst comes to the worst though, and you lose your eye, can you get some kind of awesome replacement?
