Xbox One new update

Quote:
Addresses SmartGlass issues for some users when coming in and out of connected standby
Addresses multiplayer issues for some users when re-joining games
Addresses issues with inconsistent notifications for some users
Addresses dashboard performance for some users
Offers improvements for Xbox Ones TV, system update, and content update services for scaling over time
Updated wireless networking driver to improve connectivity issues for some users

Quote:
If you have set up your Xbox One to the "Instant On" setting, the update will automatically be detected and downloaded later today at 8 pm Eastern Time (5 pm Pacific), according to Hryb. The console will power down completely after the update has been downloaded and must be manually turned back on so that the patch can be applied. After that, the console will reboot and take you back to your home screen.

If the Xbox One does not have the "Instant On" setting, owners will be required to download the update after Thursday at 7 pm Eastern time.

Hopefully the first of many

Hope that bit about improved dashboard performance turns out to be true. Mine has slowed down to a crawl the last few days, so much so that upload studio is almost unusable.

Don't know if it's a related problem, but I've had similar issues with FM5 for the last week and a half - trying to find paints IS unusable. I managed to get a Marussia paint for the F1 Lotus by setting it searching and going for a dump by which time it had found a paint, but it has got to the stage where I almost dread buying a new car as it means watching the XB1 try to find paints and fail miserably before I have to go to the plain paints.

Xbox One Keeps Getting Better – Product Updates Coming

Quote:
February 11 system updates

On February 11, the first update will be delivered to customers who sign into their Xbox One. It features many new improvements – including lots of behind-the-scenes updates for developers building apps and games for Xbox One, several new features we believe Xbox fans will love, stability and product updates to improve the customer experience, and continuous improvements to the quality of Kinect voice so commands become more fluid and responsive over time. While we won’t be going into all of the details of the product updates today, we will be sharing more information soon.

Some of the features you can expect to see on February 11 include:

The ability to see and manage your storage space. With this update, you will find it easy to find how much space your content takes up and better manage your content. You can also control your install lineup and more easily manage your download queue. We’ve separated My Games and My Apps into separate lists, so you can easily create separate queues for both. Now you can pick the order in which you want your content to load and we’ve added a boot progress indicator so you can better track updates while they load.
The battery power indicator is back! You can see it right on the home screen, so you can easily track how much battery life is left on your controller.
And, you will be able to use your USB keyboard with your Xbox One.

These are just a few of the many updates we will be shipping on February 11. We’ll share more details on these and other upcoming features in the coming weeks. We have several surprises in store that we think you’ll love.

March 4 system updates – countdown to “Titanfall”

On March 4, in advance of what is expected to be the biggest game launch of the year, we will be delivering another system update to prepare your Xbox One for “Titanfall.” This update will contain many new features and improvements, most significantly to our party and multiplayer systems. Available on March 11, “Titanfall” is a team-based online multiplayer game that showcases the power of Xbox Live, and we will be shipping a new party and multiplayer system that will help make “Titanfall” the must-have game for this generation.

This post is the first of many announcements and sneak peeks at features in the system updates. We’ve been carefully listening to your feedback and look forward to delivering many new features that will make Xbox One even better. We’re just getting started and can’t wait to share more information in the coming weeks.

Let's hope there are some Forza updates tagged along with this!

Hoping for optical 5.1.....

Keyboard will be nice, and hoping the whole thing will feel more fluid than clunky.

I never did understand why they moved backwards from the 360 in these respects - one of those odd design decisions I've criticised a few times.

But, good to see them returning.

Depends if the receiving device supports DTS. There will be a nice logo on the front if it does, cheaper home-cinema in a box stuff likely won't, not sure about those funny Turtle Beach headphones that people use.

+1, My XP510's work perfectly, and I'll get a free adapter when that is released for voice chat. I've never really bothered with headphones before but heard various people banging on about them. Had a look and glad i bought them. Can now use them on bone, ps4, ps3 and my PC with excellent results. Now I know what all the fuss was about.

My dts works perfect on my amp, sounds great too, Dolby 5.1/dts are pretty much the same anyway. Though most of the time I use my Astros, which do a great job as they have their own 7.1 mixer.

Even with DTS? Mine are great for uncompressed, but dead for DTS.

Just got it as well. It was already downloaded as I have 'instant on', so when I switch it on it just installed it and was ready after a couple of mins
