Thanks for the advice Carlos - I'm also going to get in touch with the good people at the Macmillan Cancer Centre based in Ninewells.

I have to tell you guys that I've another lump forming below my jaw on the same side as the others, but no doubt this has already shown up on the scan I had.
That said, the encouragement and support I've had from you guys over the past few weeks has been much appreciated, and at times, brought an entirely different lump to my throat.
Take a bow gents.

We're always here for you, h00nta, you know that, pal

It would appear from this morning's post, that I am now unemployed. An envelope containing a P45 and a final payslip fell through the door just five minutes ago.
So now I have to go to the nearest JCPlus office (11 miles away), and sort out what benefits I qualify for. This is something I really, really, can't be f'n ar5ed with.

FFS thats balls m8. Is this due to your recent health issues. If so is there not something you can do about it.

I had my chat with the surgeons about my scan results this morning. The good news is that the cancer is only showing up in the areas we already knew about.
The bad news is that the tumour at my eye has attached itself to the muscle which controls eye movement. The upshot of this is that the eye has to be removed.
Also being removed are the glands below my left ear. There is a danger in doing this, that the nerves which control the smile/frown muscles may be damaged. Should that happen, I would lose muscle control on that side of my face, resulting in a lop-sided droopy look.

Time to take a breath huh?

I go into hopital on the 23rd of this month, get operated on the next day, and will remain in hopital for approximately one week, with a recovery process likely to take several months during which time I'll also undergo chemo/radiotherapy, in combination with medication.
I'll also find out whether a prosthetic eye, or glasses-mounted alternative is most feasible.

Time for another breath.

Amanda from the MacMillan Cancer Support Centre at Ninewells, will I think, become a great person to have onside for my family and I in the coming days and months. Already she has taken a weight off my mind regarding the endless forms which need filling out.

So there you have it.

*You might want to put the kettle on now, or maybe something a little stronger.

My God. My thoughts are with you h00nta. Keep on fighting, and don't give up hope.

Have you read Lance Armstrong's Every Second Counts? I find it an amazing book to read when it feels like your back's against the wall.

Sadly Amanda is no longer a young slip of a thing. Well you can't have everything.

Stay strong Hoonta. And I know it's difficult but try and stay positive, the mind is an amazing thing and positive thoughts can achieve a lot more than medicine in some cases. Whatever happens you have people around you who love you, in your family and close friends. No matter what that will not change. I'm sure all of us on here will have you in our thoughts and be there for you if you need to blow off steam. Good luck with the surgery.

I'm just about treading water on the P2P's now - even making up 1 place to 68th would be about a minute.

I know its not the same mate, but I lost all hearing in my right ear. At first I strugged to hear people who were on my right hand side etc. But you adapt, I now always put the phone automaticaly to me left ear, I instintivly place myself so me left ear is facing others and I just have the tele on a tad loulder. It will take some time, but you will eventuly adapt to the change and they say that your other sense's get stronger when you loose another.

Stu - I know this is going to sound like a horrible thing to say but that's relatively good news. The biggest fear must surely have been that the cancer had spread; the fact that it's only in the known areas is a massive plus.

I can imagine losing your eye must have come as a hammer blow, but on the bright side you'll still have your eyesight, even if it is just from one eye. And it's not like that will stop you doing most things - just look at Gordon Brown who went on to be PM after losing his eye and most of the sight in the other. Actually, on second thoughts look for someone else as an good example rather than that pillock...

Good luck and I'm sure you know we're all rooting for you.

It's great to have you guys onboard with me through all this.
As for what lies ahead, well I wouldn't have chosen it, but now I just have to get on with it. And as Mylez rightly says - adapt.

I go into hospital tomorrow, and have my op Thursday I should be out again about a week later. So I'll be back in touch asap, and will be thinking of you all whilst watching the GP from my bed, surrounded by pretty nurses.
A big 'thank you' from me for all your support - your words and wishes are a great encouragement for me.

Back in a bit,
Stuart.

h00nta, I don't know how I have missed this entire thread, but I have just read it from the start and ended with tears rolling down my face and a big lump in my throat, you are one ballsy guy. Every comment on here I felt is said with genuine respect and hope for you. I share those sentiments entirely, I sincerely wish you all the best and hope to see you fighting fit afterwards.
Just remember, you are not alone, you never will be. I could tell you about my problems but that is not what this thread is about. You take care and always think positive, I'm not religious but I will be saying a prayer for you anyway, if i can remember how.
Right now just take some comfort in the fact we are all thinking of you and wishing you well.
