No, I ran it completely stock, it's a great little car.

I think it's kept well as it's quad core, and unlike when it came out more and more games and applications are multithreading better and getting more out of chips like ours.

The car is surprising good stock, certainly my favourite. I'll run it again tonight but feel free to suggest another car track combo if you want to move on.

I'll probably have a another crack at it as well. I want to get well into the 6's.

Cheers for the heads-up chaps!!

Just wish I was confident enough to build my own system

I hate the idea of paying someone a premium for what is essentially a reasonably simple process - however I do enjoy the peace of mind that comes with it not being self-built

Self building is easy and the motherboard manual will talk you through it. I have self built the last three PC's I have had and have never run into a single problem with any of them.

Cheers Slim - I'm 95% certain I could do it without issues but that last 5% is preventing me from taking the plunge

I think it's more the selection of hardware that is the most daunting things for me - I know just enough about things to make myself 'dangerous'

Maybe it's time for me to do a bit more research and get my credit card out!!

You could always take half a step back and buy a bundle (cpu/mobo/ram) so you don't have to worry about things working together.

Yeah - I've spotted them on a couple of sites and it does seem like an ideal solution. I'd told myself I'd wait until after X-Mas but I'm starting to feel the itch again

Gah, I'm wondering if the leaderboards are reset for every new build as getting to No.1 wasn't t exactly hard. Will probably give it another go tonight with my new found Fanatec ffb knowledge.

I've just improved to a 206.9, a little more downforce seems to help. The default is 5-5 front/rear, and I think I was running 6-8 just to experiment a bit.

I'm sure the leaderboards will be wiped regularly, but not every build as there is one most days albeit once every Friday for us.

Computer Hardware - Scan.co.uk
is a really good site if you want to build your own, they offer something called "ScanSure" which basically means if you break anything in the first 28 day's they'll replace it for you, even if it's your fault.

If you need any advice on parts hit me up and i'll gladly work something out to whatever budget you have, been building my own PC's for 10+ years now

Speaking of which, here's my latest beast...

Cheers for that V12

I've heard about Scan before but had forgotten about them

I'll drop you a PM with what I'm looking for and my 'budget' - any pointers would be much appreciated

@Slim Have you seen this thread? WMD Forum.

It's meant to be kept private so I won't quote anything but it's quite interesting.

Wow, epic thread! Great to see so much openness from them and great input from BC. The more I hear those who know what they are talking about discussing the characteristics of race cars I realise they are a lot more forgiving than the majority of the racing sim community think. It's the old adage that harder does not mean more realistic. This game really could be something special.

Definitely agree Slim - now I've got my PC sorted I've been having a decent play with this and so far I'm very impressed.

I think that the impending release of rFactor 2 had meant that the rest of the field are really having to pull their finger out............2012/13 could be a ground breaking period for PC sim racing

I think rFactor 2 is gonna be pounded into dust by Assetto Corsa.
Imho that is gonna be the one to beat.

And a few of the big modding teams for rFactor have already said they will be working with AC.

Assetto Corsa | RaceDepartment Forums

Is CARS gonna have Mods or will it be Developer only stuff and cost $?

Dev's said they're not sure about modding yet, depends on security etc, so ya don't get some idiot coming online with a 1000hp rocket and spoiling the fun, they want to work out how to make the racing fair with mods if possible.

The guy is excellent at giving feedback and makes it very easy to understand. Seems they really are listening to him as well. Well excited to se where this ends up.

Looking like tomorrows update will be an interesting one. The build notes through the week cover a lot of handling and tyre model related bits - some in response to BC's feedback.

Check out the new lighting engine in the latest build

Open in YouTube SD | Open in YouTube HD (when available)

The bloke has used what seems to be an 80's tv filter for realism but still looks amazing.

Will have to check last weeks build out. I see on the notes this new lighting engine also allows night racing.. although they warn a lot of this is buggy at this point in development.

A few things.... The driver leans his head into corners, and it dips forward when heavy on the brakes. The wing mirror wobbles and flexes. The drivers hands/arms are great - they move properly.
The lighting is great.

The attention to detail is epic. I need to sort my **** out and get me some of this!
