Looks much more impressive on this demo.

Reflections look realistic, the added feeling of realism of people prepping the race adds a lot, I reckon full pits with animations are gonna be present from this.

Can't imagine them using rotational hdds for demo purposes, why go for much less reliable and slower when there's no technical reason why an ssd couldn't be used.

Someone from jalopnik photographed a cabinet with a laptop in it and the bouncers got very annoyed with him...

http://jalopnik.com/i-got-thrown-in-...s-of-512918787

Also a couple of other stories doing the rounds of the demo crashing .. back to an HP branded Windows 7 desktop.

No different to the 360 launch really, they used the PowerMac G5 as early dev kits.

lol quite good that

They would not of have XB1's running the demo's anyway as it would of taken unnecessary amount of time to output then demo to XB1. Better to make up the demo with 1 track and 4/6 cars and bung it on a laptop...its what I would do as a developer.

Bearing in mind this is T10 who pay thousands to get car blueprints.
There's no reason this isn't on a state of the art PC with fast SSD.

Although the development program's maybe windows based, to play n test the game I would have thought it runs some sort of emulator.

Pretty common sence tbh

Yeah, absolutely.

I work in IT, so I've probably got a slightly different perspective to the ordinary man on the street/Forza petrolhead who assumes T10 are developing on finished hardware. They're not. Whatever equipment they're using/demo'ing on will be of as close a specification as they can manage using commodity parts.

I'd guess the launch title developers will only get representative pre-production XBox Ones for final testing a couple of months before they go on sale.

SSDs considerably shorten loading times compared to a mechanical hard drive. If they're using them on demo units then the loading times could be three times slower on the final console.

Oohhhh OK.

But then Forza 4's loading times weren't exactly nippy were they? Don't think there will be much in it tbh.

FM4 was nippier if you installed fully on the hard drive. From what I've heard Xbox One games will fully install to the hard drive, but there's likely to be more data as you can fit 50GB on a BR disc vs 8GB on a 360 DVD so probably no quicker.

I fired up GT5 for the first time in a long while yesterday. Now that has awful loading times! (and screen tearing, and rubbish sound...)

The Xbox One will include a 500GB mechanical hard disk as standard - something already confirmed by the most recent Durango development kit documentation leak. Although we would have loved to see a sizable SSD, which would be faster, quieter and cooler than a mechanical hard disk, price would almost certainly be a problem.

Why they hell not....

Indeed...I got a new Makita drill and found to my surprise that it sounds just like a Nissan GTR!*

Not sure if been reported but an interesting insight

Our team at E3 have been talking with Forza 5 studio manager Ian Hartman, who had a very interesting fact to share.

"Here’s a little secret for you,” explains Hartman. “We were working on Forza 5 before we shipped Forza 4.

"Chris Tector, who is our chief architect, he has been working with the Xbox One hardware team for the last four years. He was involved with the early chip discussions and there’s actually chips on the motherboard that are there because of Chris Tector’s involvement.

"Before we shipped Forza 4 we had the game architected by Chris,” continues Hartman. “Literally the month before our game released to the public, our dev team was already off building the foundations of Forza 5.

"It’s a whole new engine, from the ground up, re-architected for the Xbox One and I mean truly re-architected.”

So not only have the Forza team had a direct hand in the creation of the Xbox One, but Forza 5 has been stewing for a very long time. We can't wait to see more from the Xbox One exclusive racing sim and how it has benefited from an extended development cycle.

Turn 10 Was Working On Forza 5 Before Forza 4 Shipped - NowGamer

With that knowledge, it's even more lame we don't have night racing and weather.

What do you play your audio through, when I play GT5 through my surround sound system the audio is far superior to Forza, but the PS4 four audio settings are a little over complicated but set em up right to match your audio hardware and its bang on..........

AV Amp and 5.1 speakers. A few years old but still blows my socks off.

Forza 4 through a good 5.1 system is awesome.. Much to my neighbours annoyance. So I just use my Astros now, which are equally awesome.
