I had the same engine in my Rover 220 Turbo... it's a lovely engine !! The 600's a great Q car, everyone assumes it's a dog until you put your footdown and the RPMs hit 2500 !!

My list:

Astra - first car 1.4 knackered thing
Fiesta Zetec - nippy for what it was, till i blew the bottom end (partially due to being rear ended as well lol)
Pug 206 Sport 2005 plate - bought him from new, love it (still have it)
Kia Carens Company Car - Unfortunatley only 2 months old when a lorry decided to mate with it (that was scary)
Fiat Punto - Company Car - gave it back because it was too small and italian
Ford Fokkus - my current company car - TDCI - quite rapid and comfy.

So there we go, i have the 206 as a weekend toy, and the fokkus as the runaround.

Nah mate, only thing i get from there is my car washing kit. For parts, oil / consumables i go to GSF or Peugeot (if i'm feeling flash). All work is done by me as well.

soon lol

Got two options.
1. keep existing engine, strengthen internals and supercharge (all done by yours truly)
2. get a 2.0l Gti engine (138bhp standard) and Supercharge that (250bhp+ after)

All comes down to money, or lack of as the case may be lol

Pretty short list...

'89 Mini Mayfair 30th Anniversary Edition. Well not strictly mine, it was my Mum's - only finally died a couple of years ago (the car, not my Mum).
'92 Citroen ZX 1.4

Current car: '99 Toyota Corolla G6R

Recently been test driving what the next one will be: Golf Gti was nice but I couldn't get on with the DSG gearbox, Focus ST was much more to my liking 'cos it actually felt like it was going as quickly as the speedo said it was. I'm hoping to get a chance to test drive a Megane R26 soon, and I guess I should at least look at an Astra VXR (although I've never really read anything good about them...).

Some nice cars on here - I've always been a big fan of the MkIV Golf R32s.

Yeh it weighs a ****load. All that juice with that much weight... translates to a car that is quite quick, but can't cut it with the likes of a tuned motor such as eatthis' - or indeed something with a 2 litre turbo driven well (such as a civic type R). The boot space is **** all too, cos the quattro system uses an inch or two off the bottom. A few of the lads on TSN have had the turbo from HPA in the states... it looks an awesome mod. I read a review from someone that drove the 400 Brake version, and the soundbite (paraphrased) from that review I remember is: "It drives nicely, as it does before the conversion, at low revs. When you put your foot down, all hell breaks loose. If you bury it, you've barely changed gear before you have to change again, such is the rate of progress".

The downside? around 7K, plus (I'd imagine) a totally wallet busting fuel consumption

It's quite some work aswel swapping engines, if you have the time & knowledge for it it could be a good option, otherwise you'll find your car standing still without it's heart for who knows how long lol.

fuel consumption doesnt alter overall (hasnt on mine anyway) of course the petrol gauge tries to exit stage left when u boot it though hehe

Yeah i know what you mean. Over the last winter i helped a mate rebuild his Golf Rallye (eatthisvr6 knows the one lol) and we put a 1.8 20v turbo in from a TT lol. Along with bigger turbo and various other modifications. Was good fun. His dad owns a mech shop you see, so we've got free reign of ramps and all tools needed (from sockets to tyre changing machines etc). I take the 206 to work on it there, i'm always tweaking the suspension etc when i'm there as its so easy to do when you're not working on your back on the tarmac lol.

I have a bit of knowledge about the swapping side of things, Looms and electrics are the downfall (not good when dealing with a 206 lol) as i'm colourblind and slightly stupid ha ha. I could probably get the old engine out and the new in over a space of a couple of days, then its a case of getting it running.....
