Thrustmaster tx vs fanatec wheels.

if you had the choice for pc gaming which is best? Is the thrustmaster over priced simply because of its xboxone compatability? Does the fanatec gt3 rsv2 or csr wheel do a better job ?

I would say the standard fanatec pedals are better than the standard tx ones, although they use the same tech. The standard rim on the fanatec is better than the tx. I bought the GTE add on rim for the tx and that is superb, better than the fanatec rim. The bases are comparable in terms of design and solidity. When it comes to ffb I give the tx the edge, even over my fanatec CSR elite. It's stronger smoother and just feels better. Don't get me wrong my fanatec CSR elite is a great high end wheel but the tx although not build as well does some to be better when it comes to ffb. Both have their positive and negatives and both are very good high end wheels but the tx edges it for me as a result of the ffb.

I think I read somewhere that the FFB works different on XB1,
whereas the 360 used a set of reactions, the XB1 uses maths,

... or I might have dreamed it

I was comparing the two on PC. Nothing to compare the tx with on Xbone yet. The tx ffb is much better on PC than it is on Xbone IMO. Be interesting to see what the update brings.

There's too much money at stake if they do... so I'm thinking the opposite.

I hope so too. Going to hang on to my CSR Elite in any case.

damn, I was hoping it was going to be a simple Thrustmaster wheel only if you need xb1 compatability. hmmmm

its the feedback throught the wheel mentioned in the assetto corsa thread that has piqued my interest, to the point ive been looking at racing seats. (should never have sold my Playseat)

The feel in Assetto Corsa with the TX is what really got my attention. Not sure if it's the brushless motors or Thrustmaster just know their drivers but it feels particularly good in AS, definitely a better feel than with the CSR Elite. It's a tough decision to make as it's a lot of wedge.

Well. My TX died yesterday. Any turn over 180 degrees with ffb of over 50%, and it jumps the cogs. After that, won't centre until I turn the opposite direction forcing a cog jump backwards

Nope. There's an ad on coming. And you can modify csr pedals apparently.

Can't praise the wheel highly enough for feel though. Shame it's died, but I suspect it was a 1st batch teething issue, as I bought it a few weeks after launch.

New wheel turned up today. Like chalk and cheese to the old one!

The slight knotchy feel when steering slowly has gone. Feedback feels 'crisper' and more natural rather than me feeling imposed upon.

Mine must have been shoddy from day one I think.

if it's well documented, or acknowledged, you shouldn't have much of a problem getting a replacement from who you bought it from. (sales of goods act covers you for up to 6 years if something is found to be an inherent fault)

Already been replaced. Took around a week from calling Thrustmaster to taking delivery of a new one. Can't really fault the customer service.

I suspect the early build base units have been problematic.

Now I'm wondering if I should buy the gte ad on, or mod the wheel to use a car wheel.

GTE add on is a very nice wheel, much better than the stock wheel.

Hiya everyone. How have you all been? Sorry I haven't been on. Since my Mum passed, a lot has happened, and I haven't the time to race any more (Don't even own an Xbox 360)

Just testing the water about selling my Fanatec setup. I have the PWTS, the Rennsport stand and the CSR Elite pedals. I modded my shifter with a leather gearknob, as well (Also have the Fanatec alloy "pedal stop") The wheel could do with a service (strip down and grease/check belts etc) as it hasn't been used in a long time. What do you think it is worth? Cheers

Get it on ebay matey. The fetch damn good money still.

People now mod the pedals for use on the Thrustmaster TX on the XBO. Personally, I'd sell them all as separate units.

I'd just like to get shot of it all at once if I could. These things do take up a fair bit of room (And SHWBO wants it shifted!)

Sorry to double post, but I need to get shot of the Fanatec. It does need a bit of a clean up, but it's in pretty good nick (Does have the annoying "not centered" problem, but sorts itself out after a reset)

The setup includes:

PWTS
Dongle
Modded shifter (Smoother action and with leather knob!)
CSR Pedals
Rennsport Wheel Stand
Fanatec alloy pedal stopper

Any ideas, as to what it's worth? Cheers lads (Missed racing with you lot - far, far happier times......)

A PWTS, with csr pedals and omega stand went on ebay mid june for £250.

I'd say yours, cleaned up with the shifter etc, may hit the £300 mark.

If ebay is a hassle, give gumtree or. Net etc...
