Wheel Tuning. HELP!

Having a nightmare.

Playing with Lee's tune for the RUF cup and it's monterously grippy on the pad. Can hit low 2:36 ' around Spa.

Plug the wheel in, set to 540 DOR and the front end washes out constantly. I'm turning in gradually and not whacking on a full lock etc. But I'm loosing 4 seconds a lap easily. Mostly as the front end feels hopeless.

The tune is very good on the pad. What differences would you normally make to adapt it for the wheel?

Ta

Can't comment on fm5 as have no wheel but in fm 4 I had to reduce the castor where most people had say 5-6 I'd have to have it at 2.3 - 3.5 . Then the anti roll bars I had to have them set way softer front and rear . Just to get the car to turn when I turned the wheel. And have the front springs a little softer to get weight transfer and front grip. There where a few other bits and tweaks but they were personal habits really oh and for forza had the wheel set at 540 degrees.

Bear in mind John that when I went with a wheel I was approx. 4 - 5 seconds off my old pace on a pad and it took me approx. A year to get it back and then a little more

Yeah mate. I'm not expecting to be as quick, just can feel the car washing out, which is a definite tuning thing.

Once that's sorted I can start on a level playing field to the pad tune and get the times down gradually....

Can I ask, I use a pad, apart from swapping to the clutch trigger/buttons around I've not changed any thing else... Are there any other things I should change to help me? Thanks....

Yup. Go to controller options, move the steering dead zones to 0-100. Default is something like 15-85, meaning you loose 30% of the range.

Not essential unless you use the rear view mirror a lot, but I found swapping rewind shortened races massively just because I wasn't forever rewinding by accident. Then again, I do use the rear view mirror a lot.
