Porsche (Ruf) Supercup

Forza 4 we were missing the Porsches and could never run a Porsche cup as it was DLC. The Rufs were always uncontrollable nightmares and were not a viable option...until now.

Whilst messing around in B class hoppers a Ruf RT12 was spotted. Now this car starts with a PI of A676...so how did it make it to B class??? So jumped out and had a look...

Low and behold you can drop a 3.8lt Flat 6 in and take it to low B class. So built it up to B600 and this car is amazing! OK it won't light the leaderboards up anytime soon but it drives beautifully! I tried many versions of it with all sorts of tyres and widths, engine mods, gearboxes and appears you can really mess around with it.

I have a tune on my SF with stock tyres, stock widths and no aero and is still really drivable. Few guys tried it last night and most loved it whilst understeer was pointed out, but that can be tuned out.

So who would be interested in a comp like this? If you want to try the car you can find it under "fmuk" in the description.

This is the next competition I am involved in at Legends Racing League Portal

here is the quote from Jordan about the car

Quote:
by x Shuffle Fri Feb 14, 2014 9:58 pm

Because of the new "unnamed" engine swaps in Forza 5, I found a way to make McPhilen's Porsche Supercup idea work. You can drop a Porsche 3.8L Flat 6 engine in, I mean a generic engine in, which drops the horsepower by 321. This means it works in terms of it being easy to drive to make the field closer as the car that we would be using wouldn't be wild. But the fact that it's still a desirable car keeps the idea of the championship interesting, rather than having some crappy shopping trolley championship in D Class.

I uploaded the setup to my Storefront (the car is the RUF Rt 12 S btw) for anyone who is curious about how easy it is to drive. I don't know what they'd race like but I think it's an okay idea, because it is becoming clear that we're going to have to do something other than the GT series as the field spread is enormous at times

Once this got a full set of rules and what not sorted out for it, I was going to see if you guys fancied joining us in it.

This is EASILY the most fun I've had squeezing as much as you can out of a car in fm5. Builds are so far and wide it's wicked.

Awesome ain't it. You can either make it uber fast with loads of grip or really fast with magnetic grip...my favorite car so far by a long way!

I messed with builds on one of these last night, it's quality fair play.

Can we drop the same engine into the yellowbird too?

Sadly you cant. But you can put it in the CTR2 but the tyres are quite skinny and ends up being a very slippery ride.

Well parts would be:
Engine conversion to 3.8lt Flat 6
Race Brakes
Race Suspension
Race ARB's
Sport Gearbox
Race LSD

The options then to make your car B class will give you enough PI to make it a grip build or power build, but neither will over dominate the other. When I made a grip build at Spa it was half a second slower than the non aero version on stock tyres and stock widths. You can literally RWYB. You guys tried the car which I put up and that was all stock except tire pressures and gears. So you can see it is driveable even without a tune.

Yup. Everything I've ran at spa has been within a second. 2:38:3 is faster time so far

If you want. I personally think it saps too much PI. So you can have it if you like.

Personally I think it did need a tune, although there was no doubt the potential for a decent comp was there. But for me, my FM4 RT12 was much easier to handle than Sunday's car (although it must be admitted that, like John, I'm not good with understeering cars which hate curbs).

I should say I'm building a generic tune, not a spa specific, so am running grip and standard engine power.....

Same grip build....
2:22 at Bathurst
2:38 at Spa
2:04 at Prague
1:32 at Atlanta

Loads more time in all of those. But loving the build too much to change it

I have tried the build and different tunes and builds but always find it understeer too much. Maybe just adding front aero would be ok

Right I have made the decision that the comp would be open build with mandatory parts BUT as a requirement ALL participants are to share their tune at the beginning of the championship.

By doing it this way people who cannot tune or cannot get on with tuning the car can have a crack with someone elses tune. This will reduce the "Oh the car does this and I don't like it" comments and keep everyone happy.

People can tune their cars to suit tracks if they like and it is their choice if they want to share the tune after the comp has started.

The car is so easy to make to peoples driving styles and be competitive with all the other builds. You can swap out so many parts to make the car you are happy with.

Looking at a March 9th start if that is good for people?
