Well reading up on reviews the all in one kits are defo getting better and for someone that doesn't want to get their hands wet they are good but for the money and the performance you do get you're almost better off buying a decent aircooled heatsink. Plus they are don't look as good with the skinny tubing I've gone 1/2"ID & 3/4"OD so they look real chunky haha.

And I didn't have anything to measure the exact dB but it was quiet already tbh at idle. It was only when gaming did the GFX card's dual fans really spin up. But with the 4 fans at 800rpm in the base should defo keep it cool and quiet.

Indeed. I've been trying to find a piece of acrylic I bought ages ago and never used for a window mod on my old case. Thinking of halving it and using as a divider to the lower and main compartments of my case. If I cannot find it I'll buy a black mirror finish one so you can see the coolant in the GFX waterblock as naturally all PCI cards face down in an ATX motherboard.

For anyone who fancies taking a slight risk, OcUK are pre-selling manufacturer refurbished Corsair H60/80/100 closed loop watercoolers at a massive discount with a 3 month warranty. Delivery when they arrive by ship, so 4-5 weeks most likely.

I've got room in my case, so I've impulse bought an H100 just because it'll fit!

Don't know i sent it back
I wouldn't mind if it had bent pins, they straightened them, then tested and sold it but they quite obviously didn't.
Not spending 150 on a CPU for it to burn out on some shorting bent pins.

The forum post indicated they are refurbed by Corsair at the factory. I believe the early range CPU blocks were a bit troublesome. I'm making an educated guess they are re-using the known good RMA rads with all new CPU blocks (of the later type) and tubing.

I've just come across this little 2.8" LCD display powered by USB and thought that it might look quite good inside my PC case displaying stuff like temps etc.

Not too bad for $35 + postage from HK

I've seen someone else mod one of these into the side panel of their case but I really don't want to touch, let alone cut into the cases exterior.

I'll have to see when the case comes back where it might be able to sit in view but also out of the way.

I will likely be buying a sheet of black plexiglass so might be able to remove the bezel and mount it within that.

Well.... after emailing Asus, OcUK & Scan there is not ETA on my new motherboard's release date other than a hint it would be July sometime. I'm hoping sooner rather than later as I've gone and sold my motherboard and CPU to a mate oops.

Case is still at powder coaters but no rush as I can't build my PC up anyways.

New parts below:

+ i7 4770K [Haswell]
+ Corsair Vengeance Pro Series Red 8GB DDR3 2133 MHz
+ Asus VI Formula [pre-ordered]

New RAM purely down to fact its colour will go better with my new set up ? lol that is how I justified it to myself anyway.

Bingo.

Galvanic corrosion when Alu is mixed with Copper, Brass, Nickel so pretty much everything in my loop LOL.

It has been anodised so technically it would slow it down, and my coolant also has inhibitors within it but even then it is one of those things you don't want to risk.

I'm now really not sure where to get the motherboard at all now. I have a dedicated soundcard, I have two infact so the on board would only be used for my headset with my 2.1's using the Xonar card.

And the rest of the features... well it was more aesthetics. Its likely to come in at around 250+ which is about 70 more than the Hero....

Sabertooth would be an option if it wasn't black, green/brown/creamy military style coloured.

I'm now really not sure what to do

Plus the first few formulas won't be C2 stepping on the chipset so could potentially be in for USB3 issues...

Source points to Haswell Z87 USB bug | bit-tech.net

Yeah, it doesn't affect everyone but I've heard quite a few Hero's have been RMA'd due to the issue.

EK-WB are releasing details on the 10th August about full board waterblocks for all of the Maximus boards.

I think I've held out this long, I'll wait another week for the board, get it but not use the onbaord cooling and then if required cool it at a later date with an EK block if at the right price.

Update:

Motherboard arrives on Monday!!

I'm now thinking of getting a second SSD though.

I have an M4 128Mb for windows and BF3 and then the rest of my games are on one of my 2Tb hard drives. However I'm thinking of getting a Samsung PRO 256 or a Samsung EVO so that I can have windows and programs on the 128Mb and then all my games on the Samsung....

Not sure though... its another 200 to spend if I go for it

I have plumbed in the hoses but awaiting two fittings for the motherboard which I didn't order due to the fact I forgot and partly down to not knowing if I was going to get this motherboard or not.

Will get the power cables all routed tomorrow and braid the SATA cables which I'm not sure how it will go as I've failed each time previous lol.
