Paints from the artistically challenged

It's almost embarrassing putting up my paints in here given the quality of what else is posted up in this section. I'm not very artistic anyway, and don't have the skill or patience to do any but the simplest logos, hence the profusion of "manufacturer's decals" on the cars. But, they are at least a change from the usual "Turn 10 Recommended" bollox of plain gold, plain carbon fibre or base camoflage paint which the game always seems to try to get me to buy.

If anyone does fancy one, searching for "Spiny" will take you to them.

Not a lot to this one, but it does appear to have sold well (for one of my paints anyway) over Christmas. The grey is a semi-polished darkened aluminium if anyone is fussed.

There's also a tune available, but I went for a supercharged tune to complement the V8 rumble. It didn't work spectacularly well to be honest - lots of power but unfortunately lots of weight so it accelerates well but doesn't put the power down too cleverly.

Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X

And my current car. It was originally going to have a bright green background colour, but playing around after applying layers I felt the aluminium worked much better. A few of you may already have seen this paint judging by the number of rivals challenges awaiting me on my return from Christmas.

There is a tune also available if anyone wants it. It's a low downforce lightweight power build - not spectacularly quick in a straight line but quick enough against the other production rally cars, and it also corners nicely. Just apply lots of power when you think you're almost around the corner and it will begin to tuck in.

You should definitely share that one, preferably with some disgusting shade of green for the wheel rims. That should pretty much guarantee you get into the recommended paints

Also, if anybody does get the Evo, I should point out that due to Turn 10's fantastic Quality Control, there is a chrome square of unpaintableness on the left hand side skirt.

Did this one last night. To give an idea of how slow I am at painting, I was averaging almost a minute per layer

A bit worried about reports of the game only supporting 255 tunes and 255 paints per person though - while I will probably not reach that on the paints score I may well in terms of tunes.

And an SLR to add to the list.

Even this one took me a while to do, and there's less than 50 layers on the whole car. I dread to think how long one of Dan's paints would take, even if I had the ability.

We all have to start somewhere

I was pretty much terrible when I first started painting but eventually got the hang of it and managed to get six months in a row in the top three on the main site in Horizon (and one in FM4 too).

At least you haven't had the issue of slowly but surely noting down how every logo you had in FM4 looked and then translate that onto FM5!

Never.. ever... attempt to make a Jagermeister logo unless you wanna sit there for hours with the controller in your hand lol

Oh definitely, you don't need to go mad with the amount of layers just to get a design going before you even bother with the decals going on top!

I'm working on a Petronas DBR 9 that from memory has a grand total of 0 layers on it before I put the sponsor logo's on!

Thanks, very kind of you to say so.

I was going to put up a pic of a very lazy E-Type (helped by the fact that it's a pretty car in the first place), but for some reason fm.net has decided that I can only access FM3 and FM4 pictures.

I can therefore show you a picture of a Porsche 956 if you want
