Left my XBone on when I left the house this morning so should be waiting for me when I get home.

So far i am impressed, it provides a challenge in qually races but the ford race is mundane, I chose the Golf R and consequently will start a couple of casual races with the view for a comp

You'll be able to play around 20%, then lots of waiting between races.

Only dloaded enough to do the first two quali races so far but I've done them twice in two different cars and have to sat I'm pleasantly surprised and hopeful for the full game. Playing with my Fanatec and all assists off with Sim steering and it feels much better than 5. Still lost the back end a few times will little to no feedback through the wheel but certainly not as bad as 5. Just waiting for more to dload so I can get back to it.

Try this...

From there go to 'advanced settings'. Scroll past 'IP Settings' and go to 'DNS Settings'. Change your primary DNS to 8.8.8.8 and secondary to 8.8.4.4. Now go back into your advanced settings and head to 'Alternate MAC address' and hit 'clear'

Yeah, not that. Tried that fix before.

Time to get a spare router out of the cupboard, just to make sure it's not this new fangled Sky black one.

Daisy chained an old (but very expensive in it's day router) to the Sky one and done some network stuff to make it take over ... and now it's flying down at full line speed. It's downloaded more in the last five minutes that it did all afternoon!

Just done my first quail race and I'm impressed. Looks and feels very good. I ran wide and hit a tyre wall and it throw tyres back out on to the race track :0 now that is detail.

More importantly do I pre order??????

OK, so I've played through the first few quali race things, then I'm waiting for the race driver experience thing to install. First thoughts...

I want to kill cyborg woman. Her voice is grating on me already.

drivetars still annoying, and have the same 'must barge through to field in 3 laps' thing from previous games

If the tyre indicator turns slightly yellow, this results in uncontrollable understeer or oversteer.

It's not that good looking, and looks a bit cartoony, more so than previous games, this isn't helped by the God awful player paint jobs that appear on some cars.

Maybe it's cos I've had a long day and I'm tired, but so far it's just got on my tits

@Doony - check the Drivatar settings. There's one to reduce aggression.

First impressions after playing through with the Golf R are reasonably encouraging. I can do without Boosts and Mods if they don't ram them down your throat though.

OK, so I turned the drivetar up to pro, and turned off the aggression thing, and it was a lot better. Had fun driving the 22b. Sebring looked pretty cool in the rain, and was surprisingly easy to drive, only thing that spoils that is the ridiculous puddles, one which covered the width of the track.

The tyre model still feels off to me, where over heating, cooler Temps at night, felt a little false and more an added obstacle, rather than a simulaton of any kind, and the indycars were awful, track and car combination doesn't favour my ham fisted use of the steering on a controller.

Won't be playing it through again as you can't skip anything, and I'm not sitting through cyborg woman and videos of children running around in a park for the next 3 weeks. S

till not a day one purchase for me, will see how everyone else gets on with it first.

once you get thru the demo, there are 4 time trials to try, of which the Corvette around a wet Sebring is great fun.

I'm a bit like you in that respect - just feeling no real urge to rush out and buy this one. Personally, I'm still really enjoying PCars and given that I know I will only have time to do one of the games justice, I suspect I'm going to have to hear really good things about FM6 to make me buy it any time soon.

One positive though - leaving aside FM1, historically even Forzas have always been much better than the odd-numbered Forzas, so hopefully we're due a good one.

Sounds like you're not impressed.

Looking at that Rio track though, one thing leaps to the front of my mind. Maple Valley. Bernese Shitty Alps. Prague. Now Rio. What is it with Turn 10 and fast sweeping tracks with no run-off and almost no slow corners? I can't think of a real-life track which is anywhere near the nature of these, yet they keep cropping up. Unfortunately, when I see these, it further reinforced my impression that while Turn 10 may have an interest in cars, they have little interest in racing.

Not only do they not have any interest in it, they have absolutely no understanding of it as far as I can see.

The Rio track is awful, only be a useful it could be any of the other tracks they've made. Just to make sure you know you're in Rio though, there's a really big sign, just as well, cos I thought I was in Prague, or the Alps. I do miss Maple Valley though.

From the demo, I can tell you I'll never play the career, stupid power ups, or whatever they are called. The usual starting at the back and try getting to the front in 3 laps, which means you have to barge past, instead of race.

I wanted it to be great deep down, but I was under whelmed by it to be honest.

ps if you guys wouldn't mind hitting the like button on that video I would very much appreciate it

Like you, I want it to be great, I want it to be a return to the heights of earlier versions and I want it to really tempt me to buy it. It's just that nothing I've seen so far has made me want to even spend time on the demo, let alone buy it - that's something that didn't happen to me even after FM3 which I found annoying at times too. I guess it is also an indication of just how much 18 months of FM5 has dragged my opinion of the franchise down too.
