Rolling starts?

As the "touring car" series comes to an end tonight, I have started to think about a new series to run on here after we have finished the next race series by @smokinmasta ( if no one has anything in the pipeline that is ).

As we know the Random grid positions used in multiplayer dont work, and we have no option to run reverse lobby points, I was thinking about doing a quick 3 lap qually session before the first race to determine the grid position and just have the first lap of the race as a formation lap. The second race would then be a reverse grid with the rolling start.

Can you please leave feedback for this idea.

Thanks
Liam

Unfortunately, I think with the very limited tools available, rolling starts are probably the best way I can think of to determine an order for a grid. It will rely on people keeping a sensible distance from the car in front given what usually happened with rolling starts in FM4 series, something which will be even harder in FM5 since the rather strange decision to remove the distance meter.

The only other way I can think of determining an order is much more fiddle and probably best suited to a series where the grid is determined by championship order - namely use different weights of wheel rims to create a small PI differential then order the grid on PI.

They do it on TORA quite a lot Liam - line up in grid slots that is.
Bit of a faff mind and can be time consuming. Would work better on a 'feature' race as it might take nearly as long to do a lap and get into correct grid slots as the race itself!!

The only jumbling i saw was doing race 1 by random and race 2 PI.

Going to re-introduce 5% power reduction for top 3 in next touring series and might even try out sim wear in test sessions!!
