Tuning out torque steer.

Guys ive been tuning cars in forza for many years now and if I say so myself im pretty good at it, but torque steer in FM5 is proving to be a mare to get under control , race diffs in forza have always been a bit lame but in FM5 there bordering on useless, and no matter how I tweet the suspension set up nothing really helps .

Ive also found that conversion from FWD to RWD still gives FWD torque steer something clearly not right with the coding me thinks.

Keen to hear back from tuners.

Diff set to 100% has no relavance to torque it only governs traction lose transfer from one driving wheel to the other and it doesn't do a very good job at that, there is no initial torque management.

Torque steer is always an issue with the higher powered cars (I have a 285bhp Fiesta on stock tyres which demands careful throttle control to avoid it), but for more "normal" cars I generally:

a) Reduce the front accel, typically 20-25% so that the inside wheel can spin up without the outside tyre losing traction. In extreme cases (such as the aforementioned Fiesta), I've reduced it down to 15% although that does tend to lead to a cooked inside tyre. Fortunately, FM5's tyre physics seem to balance the temps/psi for front and rear tyres so this isn't as much as a long-term issue as in FM4.

b) Reduce front rebound setting (typically ~1.5x bump works for me) which helps the front end tighten up under acceleration and so means you can get on the power earlier.

Note that both the above are most relevant when getting on the power out of a corner. For reducing FWD torque steer in a straight line, the only real options are to increase the diff to 100% as John said above or be lighter on the throttle.

As for drivetrain swaps, I think most people on here know that I hardly ever do them unless required for a comp (I can think of two since the start of FM1, both family hatchbacks with RWD swap and 900+bhp) so I can't help there I'm afraid.

I not a great fan of Microsoft anyways , so time to get saving and enjoy some Ps4 racing. Can't see me ever coming back to forza not with project cars on its way and like I said drive club due out in a few months .

Wow, brave decision. My PS4 doesn't see much action at the moment. But agree that Drive Club looks the nuts and by the sounds of it GT7 could be along soonish. I still think FM will be back to its best next time around. Plus I've gone for both sides of the console war since PS1 because I would hate to miss out on an exclusive title by not having the right console. And I know its a lot of money but the way I look at it, gaming is something I really enjoy and value for money wise I'm not sure there is any form of entertainment out there that comes close.

My PSN name is GTP_Slim, add me if you like and if you have still got a PS3 and GT6 check out MVG, they have some good GT comps running.

Hi Slim , it was a tough call to make but I thought I can't see this forza being improved on by T10 and the next is two years away and horizon well thats just not my thing .
I have played a little of driveclub at the show and I think a lot of people are going to be surprised by just how good it is , I know its not being marketed as a sim but from the short play I had it certainly didn't have a arcade feel and the graphics and detailing are amazing , I feel I've made the right choice.

Yes got a ps3 still , im working my way through gt6 untill the racers hit the ps4 until then I have knack lol ( its really quite fun ) loving the feel of the ps4 controller.

I don't need to take note mate...I know/they know how some people feel and how strongly they feel about it. Nothing I can do from here mate. I do not blame them for walking away if the product is not what they feel.

I personally am extracting the best from the game and really loving it. I race every night, I love racing with you guys, I enjoy the HLC's on other sites and of course I am loving the paint editor. Overall FM5 may have it short falls (rather a lot of them) but once you get down to the nitty gritty...I am doing no less than I did in Forza 5...just a little limited.

It was yes but Microsoft & T10 are really money grabbers ive had so much free stuff throw at me in GT6 it makes you release.

I lost 100 which was a big hit to take but it was my fault for expecting to much , the xbox one was just full of gimmicks that most of the time didn't work anyway

Mod Edit: Lets not insult people

Excuse me? I enjoy the game for what it is thank you. Insulting me because it is not what you want is a little out of order.

I agree 100%.

Yes, the game has shortfalls, which are a little disappointing. On the whole, it's still a superb experience. Single player is no less disappointing than any other driving sim game. Drivatars for me behave like public lobby tw$ts, but I never get involved in career mode really.

Multiplayer I'm sure will be fixed, time permitted. Then, we will all love it for what it is.....

My only bugbear that I cannot get over, is T's lack of public acknowledgement and lack of public announcement that they are fixing. Reading between anyone's lines shouldn't be required.

Anyway. We've all moaned far too much. Once we are in a lobby (John's lag being the exception) racing is exactly as we expected, problems are forgotten, racing is close, graphics are cracking, and the fun is back. Get the lobby options back, distance meter sorted, and it will be what we all wanted.

Content will come . that's a given Money grabbing... maybe. Will we still buy it... probably.

Chin up all. Get some comps going, I'm sure all will be forgiven.

Insults are insults. There is no place here to be lashing them out.

Looking at your original post you weren't too complimentary about someone called Dan. I'm guessing you were referring to Dan Greenawalt and probably didn't realise totlxtc's real name is Dan as well?

Certainly not referring to you buddy , big apologies fella I did not know your name was Dan and in no way was my comment directed at you but at Dan from T10.

Think it best for me to move on it certainly wasn't my intention to join the forum to insult to its members, sorry fellas all this was unintentional.
