Nice rig Magic

I just finished a budget build in febuary and haven't used the xbox one since
Playing mainly Dayz and minecraft but kinda hooked on bundles and cheap steam deals at the moment.

My budget system specs
AMD FX6300 OC'd to 4.5ghz Mounted on a Asus Sabertooth 990fx Rev 2
Sapphire R9 270x 4gb gpu factory OC
Corsair vengance 8gb 2133mhz Ram

Bullet proof Seasonic 750w PSU

Its running with the 1 gig OC on air cooling and temps are fine, cpu hits 62c
during stress testing but nowhere near it under load.

So happy to be part of the "PC Master Race"

ps Hope you dont mind me posting my rig in this thread

I do wish I had gone for an I5 tbh, A little out of my budget at the time.
All in for everything needed, case, peripherals etc etc I spent 650

Had to hide the bank statements and everything lol

The plan is probably to sell the cpu and mobo for intel at some point

I'm not able to use the web at work anymore is why you dont see too much of me on the forums.
As for xbox. I got a bit battlefielded out and having the new pc with access
to so many cheap games on steam i been downloading and playing all kinds of stuff.

Im not sure what game will get me back on xbox tbh.
I pop on and say hi to a few peeps now and then but more so the 360

Dayz is my main game at the moment. The tension in that game is unrivaled by any other game imo.

Dota2 is one of these MOBA games (massively online battle arena). essentially a 5v5 top down rpg style game where the object is to get to the other teams base and destroy it. You get the choice of different hereos (100+) who each have their own special abilities so its a bit like a 5v5 game of rock/paper/scissors. Takes a lot of getting used to but can be thoroughly enjoyable.

Planetside is a strange one, without a big group of friends it is really hard to feel like you are making any sort of difference to the quite ridiculously massive fights for bases. I would suggest trying to get into an active outfit (guild). The three sides have their good points and the Vanu (purple side) are probably the easiest to start off with when on foot.

I'd offer to help with planetside but my gaming hours really are very limited now so i mainly just pop onto world of warcraft for a while.

Yeah the 290 was in warranty. I'm not too enamoured of MSI's service if I'm honest. Returns go via the retailer who tested it and sent it back to MSI UK. Over two weeks after approving replacement and MSI are still awaiting stock (of an unknown type) with no ETA. Retailer offered to replace it from their stock for an equivalent spec so I (stupidly) picked another MSI and bagged a no-cost upgrade in the process.

The Corsair water cooler just works. Picked it up very cheap as a manufacturer refurb. Never seen core temps above 60C even with it on the lowest setting. Not sure if I'd pay the RRP for it though, a 40 air cooler would be a better buy.

Cheers I'll think I'll stick to my air cooler, it never gets above 65C so I may as well save the money and think what else I could buy

I think my R290 may be broke I'm getting Video TDR Failure and BSOD. Updated drivers, reinstalled the OS, replaced with a known working GPU, even used the onboard vga and the errors and BSOD disappears. So now its the long wait to see if anything gets done

Who was your retailer @Magic

Well I got a replacement r290 from Overclockers. It took 7 days in total from me sending it to receiving replacement from OC and that includes a weekend, which is very impressive. The only downside is the one I received is a refurb and is dusty, has scratches on it and the backplate looks like its been prised off with a screwdriver at some time. So I'm not too happy with that and have asked them about it and I'm waiting for a reply

MSI gaming.

The reply I got back is 'In regards to the unit as it is over 28 days old we only get a repair / replacement

It does state this in the RMA email.'

Well after a phone and a few emails stating that I wasn't happy with the replacement, I am now getting a full refund

I can't fault Overclockers customer service, its been brilliant

Now any ideas on what card I should get next?? I'm not too sure if I should go MSI again but what's that MSI r390 like @Magic

Excellent result! Just goes to show that if you think you're in the right don't let up until you get what you think you deserve

As for which card to go for, I'm an Nvidia user so you're on your own
