Any of you guys got / getting? For PC?

Ima pick it up this afternoon on PC. BF2, and the freebie d/l add-on Project Reality is by far and away my fave FPS game on ANY platform. I tried COD - absolutely hated it, and all the subsequant ones. Only thing that comes close to PR is Flashpoint 2 - real enough, difficult but acheiveable.

I'm REALLY hoping that BC2 is NOT "dumbed down" a la COD....

On Xbox 360, just completed Single player with all achievements done, now just the online achievements left

I found it good and very enjoyable in campaign

my lads love the online better than COD too, asked why, they said "Bigger Maps"

I was tempted by this, but cant drag myself away from MW2!

has anyone got a good comparison for the online? I read it was team based? I'm not really a team player, hence the FFA exclusivity on MW2!

Team work is a must. A medic, Assault and Engineer together make a forboding team The Assault keeps everyone stocked up with weapons, the medic can bring everyone back to life, and heal them, and the engineer can destroy and also repair vehicles.

Ala BF1942, Desert combat, BF2 etc etc??

Can never get on with using these bloody gay controllers though.
Must really look into getting that keyboard/mouse thingy for the xbox.
Or update my crappy PC (AMD 3200+ circa 2004, ATI 9800se circa 2005, 2gig corsair ddr2 ram circa 2005)

Have to persuade the missus for next month as ive just got another TD banger for my 80mile daily commute

that thing doesn't need upgrading masta, i'm sure a museum will take it off your hands lol.

an Althon 3200+? that the thunderbird or the 64bit chip?

i'll be looking at getting this when i've got spare cash and my gfx card is back from where ever its gone to be repaired, not ETA either - still not played AvP yet?!?!?!!

Agreed, that old thing is ancient. However, the one I'm using now was originally a 1Ghz 128Mb Ram no graphics card, and now is a 620W, new case, new hard drive, new Mobo, new EVERYTHING (apart from a DVD drive) but it's still the same computer...

Played it last night on *mash server as my clan server (ZiiP) is REAL popular and full!!!

DEFO (for me) miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiles better than poxy COD, mainly due to the opportunity to play tactically - ie sneaky and un-predictable...... Gotta think more! Also good to see its NOT one shot-one-kill and its got bullet drop, so again tis DEFO a brain-in game.

However, my pc was NOT happy playing it!!

Had to reduce the resolution to minimum (native screen res is 1900 x 1200) and turn detail down to low....... New GPU ordered today to try to get the thing working! HOPEFULLY won't have to upgrade the damn mobo and CPU....

I was mainly "going solo" as a sniper, and ended the evening with a + k/d ratio (unheard for me - I'm normally victim#1 within ZiiP

). Gonna keep doing that until I get to know the maps a bit more. At one stage I ran out of ammo, so went on a bit of a (VERY short lived) pistol rampage!

STILL get the bloody bunnyhopping whangers ("cheats", IMO, but only happened once), but I REALLY enjoyed it! I will DEFO be playing it lots and new GPU arrives tomorrow, so should be able to be a bit more effective and with no framerate, therefore ping, issues....

Hopefully after the weekend, I'll be used to it and be back doing whats best - playing as a team member / squad leader. I was always best as Squad leader / Commander due to how my mind works (sneaky sod).....

After tomorrow I may well have a gfx card for sale......

Lee if you think your pc is slow, well mine is prehistoric mate, I'd have no chance of playing it on the pc, my kids pester me by asking if they can put Battlefield 1942 and modern combat back on. I have to explain that this pc is not like the old one that burnt-out, it's absolutely useless for games I keep trying to tell them

, be patient I say, one day we might have something a little better that you can play games on again

, only god knows when that may be I say lol, I don't even think he knows lmao

yer just came in at 4pm and my son was playing online ok
yesterday afternoon when I had a go online the Lag was dreadfully bad, it actually said there where connection probs

Had some terrible lag last night, but today was great.

I had some great games of Rush with djfenix (as long as he learns not to rush off when we're defending!) and we want two more people to join the squad, so we can actually do some of that teamwork thing, that's supposed to work quite well in these games.

Funny how these so-called Team-Based games are still full of people who have no concept of the word.
ALl the devs go on about is 'cool team play elements' and 'players working together'... never ever happens.
They should know by now that 90% of gamers are anti-social

See, I disagree. IF you get with the right folk and play regularly (its the ONLY reason I'm in a "clan"), then it works spectacularly well. And you win a LOT!

BTW, I've decided to upgrade my CPU, mobo and RAM.....

Money I did NOT need to spend this month....

Anyone want to "upgrade" their PC (a bit) for cheap? It runs Far Cry 2 and Flashpoint 2 fine on my 1900 x 1200 screen..... Not massive detail, but no stutter and easily playable.

Asus A8N SLI mobo (socket 939, iirc), 7800GTX 1Gb gpu, Athlon 64 3700+, 2 x 1Gb corsair XMS matched pair ram of low latency.

SHOULD be ready to go later today, if I can get the new bits in and working ok!

EDIT:- IF the new cpu / mobo don't come with fan / cooler, then you'll need one as I'll re-use the ones on the above...

I had to drop mine aswell, although they says it'll run it fine.
Its just a bit too stuttery when the firefights happen...

Anyone got this for xbox and up for a few games of rush tonight? I just got it last weekend, and so far i think its great so much better than CoD haha. Only thing is need some decent teammates, instead of a group of people who just sit on a hill with a sniper for the whole time whilst attempting to attack on rush :P
