Audi R8 V10 Plus

This tune was created for Zolder, first race in the invitational series for this car.

Whereas in Forza, the Audi R8 seemed to be designed to bore you to tears, in PCars it's a right lairy beast in stock form. I have no idea which is closest to reality, but the main challenge with this car was in taming the oversteer. It's still there with this tune, but with a little maintenance throttle in low speed corners and a little patience on the throttle accelerating out of corners it's much better behaved. It's also not bad for pace either - around Zolder I'm about half a second quicker than the next best R8 who appears to believe that chicanes are merely advisory. This tune turned in noticeably better than his and looked more stable through the corners, although it may not be quite so good at straightlining chicanes

I think this is the last one for me to revisit, anything after this one will be brand new and not covered in the first aborted pass through career.

I'm pleased to say that I've managed to get this car more stable than before and it seems to run quite nicely, albeit if you're running in the career races it can't hold a candle to the BAC Monos (which I don't think really belong in the same class). One thing to note though is that the R8 does seem to suffer from the bug where the rear toe gradually goes out of true, so until Patch 5.0 arrives it may be worth lightly grazing a wall every 3 laps or so to reset the rear alignment.

Changes from the original tune are in bold green

As you can probably tell, I wasn't too happy with the original tune when it came to revisiting (the default setup is a pig, so even the original was an improvement). The new one still feels as though it lacks grip, but I think that's a trait of the car as much as anything - at least not it tends to gently give up the grip from all four wheels as opposed to the default set up where the rear just wants to bite all the time.

And this car came up again, but this time for the 25hr race at the Nuerburgring Nordschleife. Unfortunately, I had a slight coming together with a wall and used up almost a race-worth's penalties in limping back to the pits So, a lap or so after a small run off the outside of a bend led to me being disqualified.

If you can avoid hitting walls though, it's not a bad run on warm tyres provided you drive it like a real car (i.e. try not to be all-on or all-off the throttle mid-corner) and go a bit easy on it. It was certainly on the pace of the mid-pack at 80% AI up until my disqualification. That said, next season I may turn penalties off for this race.

Changes from Zolder are in bold blue.
